Julian Burns King graduated with honors from Harvard Law School and previously practiced at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and Bird Marella Boxer Wolpert Nessim Drooks Lincenberg & Rhow, PC. She has represented plaintiffs and defendants across a range of industries in complex antitrust, intellectual property, false advertising, breach of contract, securities, and class action disputes. At her prior firms, Ms. King’s advocacy helped her clients recover over $750 million in high-stakes commercial cases and class actions.
Ms. King focuses much of her practice on asserting the rights of women and parents in the women in the workforce. As a former attorney at big corporate law firms, she is intimately familiar with the challenges facing women in the workforce and has experienced discrimination and harassment firsthand. These experiences led her to start King & Siegel and devote her professional life to representing workers who are harassed, demoted, suspended, or fired for resisting gender discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, and sexual harassment. For this work, she has been named a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers every year since co-founding the Firm in 2018.
Ms. King has also represented dozens of plaintiffs wronged by government actors. She obtained a confidential six-figure settlement on behalf of an inmate who alleged that other inmates assaulted him with the encouragement of correctional officers. Ms. King also represented low-income residents in a suit against the City of Costa Mesa, winning a petition for writ of mandate requiring the City to comply with state affordable housing laws and obtaining monetary damages for the injured plaintiffs. She currently represents clients in Title IX cases alleging that school districts failed to comply with federal law regarding assault prevention and reporting. She has been honored for her public interest work by the Western Center for Law and Poverty and the State Bar of California.
Before attending Wellesley College, Ms. King represented the United States as a member of the national figure skating team. In her free time, Ms. King enjoys skiing, trail running, and cooking for friends and family.
Ms. King is licensed to practice in California and New York.
