biography
Julian Burns King is a founding partner of King & Siegel LLP and a nationally recognized advocate for employees facing discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. A graduate of Harvard Law School (with honors) and Wellesley College (with honors), Julian began her career at Quinn Emanuel and Paul Weiss, two of the nation’s leading litigation firms, where she helped recover over $750 million in high-stakes commercial cases and class actions.
Since co-founding King & Siegel in 2018, Julian has built one of California’s most respected plaintiff-side employment practices. She leads the firm’s discrimination and harassment groups and has secured dozens of seven- and eight-figure results on behalf of whistleblowers and victims of sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and gender discrimination.
Clients turn to Julian not only for her courtroom skill but for her unflinching honesty, strategic clarity, and genuine care. She is known for telling clients the truth, not just what they want to hear, and for pairing that candor with deep empathy. Her clients consistently describe feeling seen, believed, and empowered after working with her. Whether representing a C-suite executive, a working parent, or an hourly employee, Julian brings the same fierce commitment to justice and belief that everyone deserves dignity and fairness at work.
Julian represents workers from all socioeconomic backgrounds—from corporate boardrooms to factory floors—believing that fairness and accountability should never depend on a paycheck or title. She brings the same rigor, compassion, and tenacity to every case, no matter the client’s role.
Julian recently prevailed before the California Court of Appeal in Malloy v. Superior Court, a published decision clarifying venue rights for remote workers. Her success reflects her meticulous attention to detail, investigative rigor, and belief in building the winning case from day one through exhaustive fact development, strategic framing, and disciplined advocacy.
Named a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year since 2018 (an honor awarded to no more than 3% of attorneys under 40), Julian is recognized for her leadership in advancing the rights of working parents, women in the workplace, and those facing systemic discrimination. Her firsthand experience with bias in elite corporate environments drives her mission: ensuring that no worker is punished for demanding dignity, fairness, or equality at work.
Julian has represented hundreds of employees across California in cases involving gender and pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower claims. Her advocacy has been featured in national and regional media, and her firm is known for its fearless courtroom advocacy and compassionate representation.
Before law school, Julian represented the United States on the national figure skating team. Today, she is a proud mother, an avid skier, and a casual gardener.
Julian is licensed to practice in California and New York.
