Biography

James H. Baker is a Counsel at King & Siegel LLP, where he advocates for workers facing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. He is a Harvard Law School graduate and former Deputy Executive Editor of the Harvard Law & Policy Review.

James joined King & Siegel LLP after serving as a Senior Trial Attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in San Francisco, where he achieved workplace reforms affecting tens of thousands of workers. Prior to his government service, James worked in private practice where he saw how some of the largest corporations in the U.S. defend against employees.

James’ experiences give him a unique insight into how to best protect employees and applicants. He has secured nearly $2,000,000 for them, including,

  • $400,000 for two Black employees who were fired after reporting and opposing their managers’ racial harassment.
  • $385,000 for two Black employees subjected to racially motivated mistreatment, taunts, and bullying at a Sacramento warehouse.
  • $350,000 on behalf of an employee whose company forced her to reject Middle Eastern customers.
  • $200,000 for a hard-of-hearing applicant whom the company ghosted as soon as she requested an accommodation.
