SEC Issues Record Breaking Whistleblower Awards
| Read Time: < 1 minute | Dodd-Frank

The SEC has already made whistleblower awards of almost $180 million to 22 individuals in the first quarter of fiscal 2021–which runs from October 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. In fiscal year 2020, the SEC paid a record $175 million to 39 tipsters, but it has already broken this record in the first quarter of fiscal year 2021.

With these latest awards, the SEC has now paid out approximately $731 million to 123 tipsters since it began paying awards in 2012, and it’s close to setting a new annual record.

Let’s hope that the SEC continues to reward whistleblowers for stepping up and doing the right thing at this record-breaking pace throughout 2021.
